Our Sustainability Commitments

Nourishing You, Caring for the Planet

At My Kitchen Table, we’re not just about delicious, home-cooked inspired meals; we’re about making choices that help both us and our customers protect our planet. From our packaging to our delivery systems, every decision we make is designed to reduce waste, support a circular economy, and align with the values of our community.

Our Commitment

1. Our Food Containers – Compostable and Safe

My Kitchen Table New Zealand - Chef quality meals proudly made fresh and frozen in Nelson

Our meal containers, provided by BioPak, are made from compost-friendly materials and are PFAS-free, containing no harmful chemicals or palm oil. Certified to Australian and New Zealand compost standards (AS5810), they break down safely in your home compost, leaving no toxic residues.

Food Container Liner
Unbleached, chlorine-free, and made from vegetable parchment, our liners are as kind to the planet as they are practical. They’re fully compostable, so you can toss them in with your food scraps guilt-free.

Sleeves and Wraps
We’ve partnered with Pak World and Blueprint to create sustainable packaging with:

  • 100% recycled paper

  • Vegetable oil-based inks

  • Lightweight, reusable designs that reduce carbon footprint

2. Food Distribution System – Minimal Landfill Commitment

Our distribution packaging is built around the innovative Woolpack Planet Protector System, designed to keep your meals perfectly frozen while championing the circular economy.

  • The Wool: 100% home-compostable and packed with creative uses – mulch for your garden, weed matting, pipe lagging, or even pet bedding.

  • The Film: Choose between home-compostable or recyclable options.

  • The Carton: Fully recyclable through council systems and great for DIY projects like kid forts or cat mansions (because sustainability should be fun too!).

Refrigerant
Our gel ice packs are non-toxic and kerbside recyclable. The gel can be safely emptied down the sink or used in your garden, making disposal as easy as enjoying your meal.

Why This Matters…

By choosing My Kitchen Table, you’re not just supporting local, small-batch meals made with love; you’re also helping to reduce environmental harm. Together, we’re creating a better future with:

  • Sustainable materials

  • Compostable and recyclable solutions

  • Reduced waste and a smaller carbon footprint

Our goal is to make sustainability easy, meaningful, and part of your everyday choices.
